Demanding 900 bets

The facts of this case are undisputed. Vlad P of Budapest deposited 100 Euros at BetSonic, received a matching bonus, made some sports bets and wound up with about 2500 Euros.

"They have a rollover of 1400 to complete, which I did," Vlad told us, "but since they consider only maximum 100 per bet per rollover (I've had bets of 500 and 600), they only considered me 500 for the rollover, thus 900 still remained to play, which wasn't an issue and I wanted to play it, but suddenly saw they limited me to a ridiculous limit of 1 (!) per bet. Meaning, basically, they don't want me as client, which is their absolute right but the problem is now I need to make 900(!!!) bets of 1 EUR to complete this rollover - that's simply screwing the player very hard for absolutely no-wrongdoing, except for having some luck (they obviously wouldn't limit me on 1, had I lost all my balance).

"That's outrageous in my view, and I won't be wasting tens of my expensive working hours (I have my own business in Budapest) to make these 900 bets, just to satisfy their distorted desire to avenge me for winning (temporarily, I might lose lots of it) a sum, which frankly shouldn't bother any serious casino... Moreover, if they see I start making, say, 20-30 bets of 1 per day and will still complete the rollover in a few weeks, they can simply lower my limits to 0.1 and so on, thus putting stick in my wheels at their will. Perhaps they count on me not having the resources to complete all these 900 bets of 1 in my remaining 60 days (out of 70 in their terms) to play the bonus rollover and want to fail me in this way to confiscate entire winnings - either way that's EXTREMELY unfair play".

Gambling Grumbles agrees that a 1 Euro bet limit would force him to make a ridiculous number of bets. In fact, it would even violate BetSonic's own T&Cs as it does not permit players to make large wagers and then, after winning, reduce their bets by more than 75% of the larger ones they had made. This is a standard rule to protect casinos from players who want to protect their winnings by "grinding out" the remainder of their required betting by never risking very much on a single play.

We suggested that they set a reasonable maximum bet for him (say, 10 or 25 Euros) but the casino not only refused but even decided not to pay under any circumstances.

"The client is not genuine at all. He is a PURE bonus abuser getting advantage of our offer to attract normal players. He bet in BAD faith trying to convert our promo money to real money and withdraw. Especially now that he is spreading bad reputation for our company we will froze his account and we encourage him to complain to our regulator and we will follow our regulator advise.

"Further more, we will deduct the bonus amount and ALL winnings derived from the bonus that is OUR promo money and only.

"In our Terms & Conditions the client ACCEPTED during his registration it is CLEARLY written:

"3.5 Your use of any real money bonuses is subject to The Company review for irregular playing patterns. To ensure fair gaming and the proper use of bonuses, The Company considers low margin betting, equal betting, zero risk bets or hedge betting to be irregular gaming when deployed to exploit bonuses. Further examples of irregular playing patterns also include, but are not limited to: (i) placing single or multiple bets of a value of fifty percent or more of the bonus on any single game, individual hand, or round, building a balance and significantly changing play patterns (bet size, game types, bet structures etc.) in order to meet the bonus release requirement; (ii) placing large bets which result in a substantial gain followed by a drop in bet size equal to or more than seventy five percent of the previous average bet size until the bonus release requirements have been met; (iii) if we have good grounds to suspect that you have sought only to exploit a bonus offered by The Company in good faith to enhance your entertainment (for example, on acceptance of a bonus, the minimum wagering requirement is met and funds are subsequently withdrawn). In the event that The Company deems that an irregular playing pattern has taken place, The Company reserves the right to prevent you from cashing out Account funds and/or withhold any of your winnings derived from your use of the bonus".
