Again, not paying

We were not at all surprised when Margaret Y of Hawaii wrote to us saying that Slots Plus is refusing to pay the $9000 she won and has given her no reason.

Why no surprise? Because Slots Plus, and all of its partner casinos in the Main Street group, are in our Hall of Shame. Not paying seems to be a habit with them.

Margaret told us that "I opened an account with Slots Plus casino, deposited 300USD and with a lot of luck won 9000USD. Today I tried to access the banking section of my account and it says access denied, I was advised to chat (they have no published phone) with the financial department. I have tried for 2 days to contact the financial department they are always on an "offline" status. I have no way to discuss my issue.

"I did notice that they have declined my $9000 payout. There is no reason for them not to pay me.

"The only one I can think of is my nephew uses my address because he does not have a permanent address and he may have had an issue with a casino. He is a 60-year-old adult and I am not responsible for him nor his actions. My account is completely separate. They may have linked my address with his account".

We don't think that is the reason. For one thing, it would be a remarkable coincidence if both Margaret and her nephew played at the same casino. For another, having the same snail mail address is not against any casino's rules. If it were, a large apartment house with 500 tenants would find all of its tenants ineligible to collect their winnings because someone else in the same building has an account with the casino.

We suspect that the reason Margaret is not getting paid is completely different. Slots Plus, and another casino in the Main Street group, recently told winners that it cannot send money to the United States and that they would have to go to Europe and open an account there. Of course, when we posted the original reports about this, we noted that most European banks will refuse to open accounts for American citizens -- as the US demands too much paperwork from them.

In itself, the refusal to send winnings to America is not something we find objectional. Most casinos (and almost all European ones) will also refuse. (Slots Plus, despite having a "eu" email addy, is licensed in Panama). What we do find objectional is that while casinos outside of the Main Street Group refuse to send money to the US, they also refused to accept deposits from it. The Main Street group is different. It gladly takes Americans' money and only then says it won't send their winnings.

As Slots Plus, as mentioned above, is in our Hall of Shame we did not write to it before posting our report. That is our standard practice with all Hall of Shame casinos. We will, however, send it a link to this report and if it disagrees with what we have posted can write back to us. We will be happy to give it Margaret's full name, her username at the casino, the city in which she lives, and her email addy. We will even be happier if it straightens out the problem and we can edit or re-write this report.

We are not, however, optimistic that this will happen.

Slots Plus is licensed in Panama.
